Empatisch Verbinden B.V.
We’re transforming how people understand and connect with each other across the Netherlands through compassionate communication and empathy development.
Why We Started
Empatisch Verbinden B.V. began in 2012 when our founder noticed something troubling in Dutch workplaces and communities. People weren’t really listening to each other. Conversations happened, sure, but genuine understanding? That was rare. We saw brilliant teams fail because they couldn’t communicate with empathy. Families struggled because they weren’t equipped to truly hear one another. That’s when we decided to do something about it.
We’re not here to teach people buzzwords or corporate jargon. Our approach is practical, grounded, and deeply rooted in understanding how humans actually connect. We’ve spent over a decade refining our methods, learning from thousands of participants, and building something that genuinely works. It’s compassionate communication stripped of the fluff — real skills for real relationships.
How We Develop Empathy
Our methodology combines evidence-based practices with hands-on experience. We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions.
Understanding Self
You’ll start by examining your own communication patterns, emotional responses, and biases. This isn’t therapy — it’s practical self-awareness that forms the foundation for understanding others.
Active Listening Skills
We’ll teach you the specific techniques of genuine listening. You’ll learn to notice what’s not being said, recognize emotional undertones, and respond with genuine interest rather than just waiting for your turn to talk.
Perspective Taking
Through guided exercises and real scenarios, you’ll practice stepping into others’ experiences. This develops genuine empathy — the ability to understand why people feel and act the way they do.
Compassionate Response
Finally, we’ll help you translate empathy into action. You’ll develop communication strategies that honor understanding while maintaining healthy boundaries in every relationship.
What We Stand For
These principles guide everything we do at Empatisch Verbinden B.V.
Authenticity First
We believe real connection happens when people show up as themselves. Our training environments are judgment-free spaces where authenticity is encouraged and celebrated.
Practical Application
Theory means nothing without practice. Every session includes real scenarios you’ll actually face — at work, at home, in your community. You’ll leave with skills you can use immediately.
Inclusive Learning
We’re committed to serving everyone. Our programs are designed for diverse learners, different professional backgrounds, and various cultural perspectives. Understanding others means understanding diversity.
Continuous Growth
Empathy isn’t a destination — it’s a journey. We provide follow-up support, advanced workshops, and resources to help you keep developing these essential skills long-term.
Trust and Safety
Vulnerable conversations require safe spaces. We maintain strict confidentiality and create environments where people feel respected and protected while they learn and grow.
Measurable Change
We track progress because we care about real outcomes. Participants see improvements in communication quality, relationship satisfaction, and workplace collaboration within weeks.
Real Change Happens Here
Since 2012, we’ve helped thousands of people develop genuine empathy and communicate with compassion.
“I wasn’t expecting much honestly. But after working with Empatisch Verbinden, the way I listen to my team completely changed. We’re having better conversations, making better decisions, and people actually feel heard. That’s something special.”
— Linda, HR Manager, Rotterdam
